A two-month-old baby girl was snatched away by an unknown individual in the Gweru CBD on Saturday.
The incident
happened in the afternoon.
Midlands Police
Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said Faith Jakaza (26) had just finished
breast-feeding her daughter when she was snatched away.
“She briefly
left the baby on the lap of the baby’s six-year-old sister, going to buy
bananas from a nearby vendor.
“On turning
back, after a few minutes, the mother discovered the elder daughter no longer
had the baby, saying the baby had been snatched away,” he said.
Jakadza is said
to have shouted for help while looking for her baby.
“We appeal for
any information that can help in locating the culprit and recover the baby.
“On the same
note we also advise mothers or persons who have the custody of babies and
children to always keep them under close monitoring,” said Insp Mahoko. H Metro
