Property worth thousands of dollars was yesterday destroyed
by a violent storm which hit Nyadire Mission in Mtoko.
The violent left a trail of destruction at two schools, the
teachers college and some parts of the hospital.
When the ZBC News visited the mission, debris was still
strewn all over while the community was still in shock.
Nyadire Primary School head, Mr Tendai Mushapaidze and his
secondary school counterpart, Mr Isiah Mudiwa said although they have managed
to organise alternative classrooms and accommodation for the students, the
destruction has caused a lot of inconvenience and they need resources to repair
the damaged infrastructure.
Nyadire Teachers College Principal, Mrs Rosemary Nyarugwe
said the entire community is still in shock and appealed for assistance to
repair the destroyed buildings.
The storm, which lasted for close to 40 minutes, also left
the institution in darkness after the power line which supplies electricity to
the institution was brought down by a fallen tree which also affected water
supply as it can only be pumped by electricity.
