A 17-YEAR-OLD Buhera school dropout who sodomised his 15-year-old
brother was last week sentenced to receive three moderate strokes by a
Rusape regional magistrate.
The teenager from Mapanzure Village in Chief Makumbe’s area, who was
not represented, pleaded guilty when he appeared before Rusape regional
magistrate Mr Livingstone Chipadza, who further sentenced him for two
years which he wholly set aside for the next five years on condition of
good behaviour.
The teenager will receive the strokes at Rusape Prison. The teenager told the court that he was an orphan who dropped out of school this year after failing to raise examination fees.
In sentencing the teenager, Mr Chipadza warned him against committing
serious offences at a tender age and said aggravated indecent assault,
commonly known as sodomy, was an abomination which led God to destroy
Sodom and Gomorrah.
Representing the State was Rusape district prosecutor Mr Tirivanhu
Mutyasira, who told the court that the juvenile took advantage of the
fact that they were sharing the same room with the victim to abuse him.
