President Robert Mugabe has declared Amai Maud Muzenda a
national heroine.
Muzenda was the wife of the late national hero and
Vice President Dr Simon Vengai Muzenda and she died on Tuesday at the Avenues
Clinic in Harare at the age of 88.
The Minister of Defence, Dr Sydney Sekeramayi, who is also
a Zanu PF Politburo member delivered the message to mourners gathered at the
Muzenda homestead in Chisipite, Harare.
Dr Sekeramayi was accompanied by Acting Home Affairs
Minister, Dr Joseph Made. Muzenda’s body will be taken to Gutu today and
will be ferried back to Harare tomorrow.
Burial is on Saturday at the National Heroes Acre in
Harare.
