FUEL EXPLODES IN HOUSE, WIFE DIES, HUBBY FIGHTS FOR LIFE

Tragedy hit a Chibuwe couple this Wednesday when their house burst into flames due to fuel stored in the house.

The 23 year old wife was burnt to death while the husband is battling for life in hospital.
Eye witnesses say the fire incident took place around 9:30 on Wednesday morning when the deceased Liana Chikakasi lit a charcoal stove close to their bedroom which ignited fuel that was stored in the house.

It is alleged the husband Joseph Chifana had opened up one fuel container as he wanted to sell the commodity to a prospecting customer.

The wife died in the inferno while the husband who had earlier managed to escape was seriously burnt after he returned into the house to try and rescue his burning wife.
Sorrow has engulfed the community where villagers and relatives are yet to come to terms with the tragic incident.

Others say those dealing with fuel without operating licenses should be arrested to curb such eventualities.

Chifana who is said to be in a critical condition was taken to Chipinge hospital before being referred to Mutare General Hospital while the remains of Chikakasi’s body were taken to Chipinge district hospital for post mortem.

The couple had five children; two from the deceased’s first marriage while three are from the husband’s first marriage.
