The Elders led by Kofi Annan have met President Mnangagwa
for a closed door meeting this morning. Addressing media afterwards, Annan said
they came "to encourage peaceful & credible elections."
Mnangagwa said : “The incident in Bulawayo was intended to
assassinate me not democracy. Government has no role in influencing ZEC as an
independent body. Those aggrieved with the commission are free to approach the
courts. The courts are open.”
