SMITTEN CLIENT LOSES $1,5K TO HOOKER

A HARARE man has dragged to court a prostitute whom he had fallen in love with “just for a short time” accusing her of swindling him of more than $1 500.

Tsitsi Zhakata, 33, pleaded not guilty to charges of stealing from Ephraim Mapanga Dende, 32, when she appeared before Harare magistrate Victoria Mashamba-Kajengo. Dende resides at house number 32 Hanga Street, Zengeza 2 in Chitungwiza.

In her defence, the accused said she did not steal the complainant’s money but pointed her two accomplices Nomathemba Ndlovu and one Talent, still on the run, of having stolen the accused’s money.

Zhakata further told the court that Dende was her client. When Dende took to the witness stand, he told the court that Zhakata got his Ecocash pin number when she saw him making transactions with his phone.

“I was in love with the accused your worship just for a short time after seeing her at Tipperary’s. I did not see anything wrong. At one point, I bought the accused groceries worth US$200 after she had told me she wanted me to buy her a handbag worth US$70.

“She however had sight of my Ecocash password when I was making transactions while sleeping on her bed,” said Dende.

Magistrate Mashamba-Kajengo deferred the matter to October 3 for trial continuation.
The State led by prosecutor Patience Chimusaru is alleging the accused illegally used the complainant’s phone in March to send money to different people at various intervals without the complainant’s consent.

As a result, Zhakata prejudiced Dende of $1 589. Zhakata is out of custody on $50 bail. h metro
