CHIYANGWA DRAGS MANAGER TO COURT

Flamboyant businessman Philip Chiyangwa’s company — Pinnacle Property Holdings (Pinnacle) — has dragged its site manager to court for allegedly siphoning $6 500 received from clients.
The accused — Means Kodzwa, 60, of Budiriro 4 in Harare — appeared before magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti facing allegations of theft of trust property.

He was released on $100 bail, ordered not to interfere with witnesses and continue residing at the given address. Pinnacle was represented by Brian Chiyangwa of Bluffhill, Harare.
Prosecutor Audrey Chogumaira alleged that between January 2014 and December 2015, Kodzwa was employed by Pinnacle — a realtor.

Kodzwa’s duties involved receipting cash from prospective clients and allocating vacant residential stands in Stoneridge, Waterfalls, following payments of $1 100 deposits.

The court heard that between January 2014 and this year, Kodzwa received various amounts of cash from home seekers which he was supposed to receipt before handing it over to Pinnacle cashier at 224 Samora Machel Avenue.

Kodzwa allegedly remitted part of the money but converted $6 500 to his personal use.
In a bid to cover up the offence, Kodzwa allegedly allocated home-seekers residential stands before advising the complainants to erect surfaces at the sites.

It was alleged that Kodzwa also promised to furnish the complainants with agreements of sale as proof of payment.

He allegedly claimed Chiyangwa, as Pinnacle’s director, was supposed to sign the documents first. The offence was unearthed after complainants were required to produce proof of payment by Urban Development Corporation (Udcorp).

The complainants failed to register with Udcorp because they had no agreements of sale as required.
When the victims approached Pinnacle’s Samora Machel offices, they were advised that records only alluded to them as having made part payments towards the required $1 100.

The court heard that they were further advised that they had to complete payments first for residential stands allocation.

According to the State, complainants suffered prejudice of $6 500. Nothing was recovered. Daily news
