Acting President Phelekezela Mphoko says the planned arrest of the Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Professor Jonathan Moyo is part of a bigger ploy to destabilise government.

Speaking just after the hand-over of chicks to the Mpopoma community, Mphoko said it is unfortunate that some senior government officials wanted to cause a scene and have Minister Moyo arrested without following the proper procedures of dealing with senior government officials.

He said the failed attempt to arrest Minister Moyo is a serious matter in government which is being looked at with a view of dealing with the official who issued the order. Mphoko said it would appear the ploy is to do away with President Mugabe’s most trusted officials so that some government operations are adversely affected.

Recently, Mphoko noted with concern that the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has within its ranks some people who are wanted on criminal charges in other African countries, an indication that the commission needs to be reconstituted.
