Chegutu leadership has prevented the use of Suri Suri Road by Rio Zim until the company contributes toward the upgrading of the road and the development of the area where the company is operating from.

There was drama along Suri Suri-Chakari roads as the National Assembly member for Chegutu West Dexter Nduna and Chief Ngezi barricaded the road stopping all Rio Zim trucks from carrying ore, accusing the company of destroying not only the road but the environment as well.

Chief Ngezi said since the coming of Rio Zim to operate in his area there has been no communication between him and the company. He is also accusing Rio Zim for not employing locals.

Nduna, who is also Chairperson of Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Transport, echoed the same sentiments and said Rio Zim should plough back to the community where they are operating from.

Asked for comment, Rio Zim human resource executive identified as Mrs Njanike refused to comment. Meanwhile, the district administrator for the area Mr Walter Hwayira urged companies operating in his area to work with local leadership for the development of the country.
