Bulawayo Deputy Mayor Gift Banda and four other councilors have been suspended with immediate effect.
The councilors are accused of engaging in a string of dodgy land deals in the city. They were handed their suspension letters today.
The other four are James Sithole, Mzama Dube, Charles Moyo and Reuben Matengu.
A special council has been called to deal to unveil a probe report after Minister Local Government Saviour Kasukuwere instituted investigations early this year.
The Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association (BPRA) initially raised the red flag over the rate at which councillors were allegedly grabbing land in the city.
Banda was the lead focus of the probe squad as he bought a piece of land at Ascot Racecourse for the construction of town houses at a give away price.
