POLICE in Marondera have reportedly launched a manhunt for two suspected masked robbers, who broke into a local supermarket on Sunday night and got away with $100 000 in cash, a pistol and some electrical gadgets.

Amitabh Gulab of SAV Supermarkets, who is the complainant in the matter, claimed the suspects were captured on CCTV cameras mounted in the building.

Detectives privy to the matter said indications were that the suspects gained entry through the roof, cut the burglar bars securing the strong room with a cutting torch and made off with their loot comprising of $100 000, a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, Samsung E250 cellphone, three Acer laptops and a 9mm calibre Norinco pistol.

A security guard at the shop later discovered the break-in and alerted the supermarket’s manager, Paddington Zvayi ,who then reported the matter to the police.

Police spokesperson, Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said she was unaware of the incident.
