A MAN from Bulawayo allegedly attacked three sisters in a bushy area and raped one of them four times at knife point, while the other two waited at a distance.
Sifundo Ngwenya, 37, a court heard, only released the victim and fled when police officers approached the scene.

The woman met Ngwenya recently, about five months after the sex attack, which occurred on January 28 this year, and alerted the police.

Ngwenya yesterday pleaded not guilty to rape and robbery before Western Commonage magistrate Tancy Dube. He said the victim had identified a wrong person. Dube remanded Ngwenya in custody to June 13, 2016.

Prosecuting, Mufaro Mageza, said the woman was in a bushy area between New Magwegwe and Magwegwe West with her two sisters when they met Ngwenya.

“The accused threatened them with an Okapi knife and took their cell phones. He then held the knife on the complainant’s throat and led her to a bush,” said Mageza.

“He ordered her to lie down and had sex with her without her consent. The complainant went to hospital and a medical report was obtained as evidence.”

Ngwenya, the woman said, raped her four times. “He raped me four times. He started asking me questions about my husband, he ordered me to put on my clothes and go back to my sisters,” she said.

“One of the cell phones he had taken from us rang. He told me to answer it and say everything was fine. Before I could answer the phone we saw police officers who were using the same path. He fled, leaving the cell phone behind.”

The woman said she later met Ngwenya in Magwegwe and identified him. She called the police leading to his arrest.

“I saw his face when he raped me so I can’t have mistaken him. It was him who raped me,” she said. chronicle
