DZAMARA : WHY I PROTESTED

They say fear a heartless person or system, I say demystify him or it. Don't be silent in the face evil. Be prepared to even die for what is right.

Yesterday, I took it upon myself to remind national leaders that they must account for my missing brother while celebrating Zimbabwe's 'independence' at the National Sports Stadium. I will never ever get weary until I get to the bottom of this matter.

Indeed, armed with my trust in God and the resolve to see a better Zimbabwe I did the unthinkable. Caring less for what could befall me, I presented myself to Mugabe and his minions demanding answers about my brother. How I managed to get through the heavy security presence is another story for another day. We can do a movie on that...lol.

As is their tradition, the state security agents tortured and assulted me. I sustained injuries but I am being monitored and I am recovering well. The bleeding ear, swollen face, sprained ankle, red eye and pain is not even enough to deter me from standing for what is right.

Some see this as tomfoolery but I see it as paying the price for the future. I know some people who are laughing at me or my brother Itai today will be proud of us in the new Zimbabwe. We are paying the price for them too.

We have seen what is in the future of this great nation and we are prepared to sacrifice anything until we get there. These beatings and torture cannot truncate our resolve. They actually motivate us to keep on marching. We shall get through.

I thank God for preserving my life. I also thank all those who reached out to me. Thank you for your prayers and support. Unfortunately I am not able to receive visitors as I am on total bed rest while I am being monitored.

We shall greet and kiss a new Zimbabwe soon. We are getting there, step by step.

Dr. Patson Dzamara
